  • "Good morning. Today ask why Congressional Republicans have failed to fix Social Security Disability and left so many Central AL families desperate? Parents, grandparents, people that paid into the system are waiting years to get Social Security - and paying thousands to lawyers." (twitter.com)
  • "The solution is to find a payment structure that is most economical that provides the best care possible. The market approach has not worked. This method has seen annual cost increases that surpasses that of any other industry. The market solution is not an answer because markets do not exist to make our lives better but to be profitable for their investors. This explains 38% of all healthcare cost does not go to hospitals, clinics, equipment, doctors, nurses, technicians, or pharmaceuticals, but is lost in the weeds." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • "The people elect their political leaders. Elections should be based on the needs of the people, not who has the biggest pot of money. The purpose of our form of government is quoted in saying to form a more perfect union. to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity". Those are not just words, they make up our purpose... which is all about the people, not just the powerful and entitled." (justfacts.votesmart.org)

We are in the 21st century and should be spending dollars on wars that will be fought in the 21st century, not those of years past." (justfacts.votesmart.org)

We have a history of government involvement in sciences that end up on the market place. The internet started out as a way to maintain communications in the event of a nuclear war. The dBase computer language was developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratories in Pasadena, California. Different companies went to work expanding its core but the courts stated its core was public domain because it was developed by public monies." (justfacts.votesmart.org)

  • "Due to the international market and economy, open trades may cause the US to eventually fall behind. Before being in a hurry to import, we should produce and consume the products we have first. Then, consider importation. Sacrificing our skilled labor and talent of the people in order for a few to profit is un-American. America must consider the interest of our people first before the interests of profits." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • "We must trade with others. Trade is not bad but trade agreements have consequences for the economic health and welfare of ordinary citizens like you and I. We have learned trade agreements that only benefit corporations and big investors, can do great harm to the rest of us. We have learned from the disrupted lives of millions of working Americans, that our trade agreements should benefit all people and not just a few. The truth is, even without these trade agreements, our lives and work would have changed. These trade agreements just accelerated the irreversible force of digital technology and how it has transformed work. No matter how much we may not want it to be so, we live in an interconnected world. It is in this world most of us live, work, and compete." (justfacts.votesmart.org)

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I believe that all life is precious. But, each of us must face choices. Sometimes there are good options from which to choose and other times, the selection is limited. However, I do believe in family freedom. Families should be able to decide what is right for them without intrusion from the government or career politicians. A rapist should not have more rights than someone's daughter. Therefore, having that choice should belong to the woman, not the government.
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
Need should come before greed. We are our neighbors keeper. Theodore Roosevelt said "This country will not be a good place for any of us to live in unless we make it a good place for all of us to live in". That takes Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
The people elect their political leaders. Elections should be based on the needs of the people, not who has the biggest pot of money. The purpose of our form of government is quoted in saying "to form a more perfect union. to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity". Those are not just words, they make up our purpose... which is all about the people, not just the powerful and entitled.
Unknown Position Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
We currently have the largest defense budget of all the leading nations, which is 10 times greater than the next nation, and we are spending tax dollars on projects to fight types of wars that will never be fought again. We are in the 21st century and should be spending dollars on wars that will be fought in the 21st century, not those of years past.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Unknown Position Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
We learned during the depression that our Federal government can play a role in stabilize our economic life when the greed of a few, place us all in economic harm. Corporations use public resources, they use talented people who were educated in our public schools; use our public weather service; our airways; our highways; and the list goes on. Corporations must and should be profitable to be sustainable. Their purpose is to provide a service or product to people. They use public resources to engage in this activity and therefore should pay into sustaining the resources.
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
We have some of the finest teachers in the world that have been trained in the finest educational institutions. We need to let teachers teach. There is no way a central government can know the specific needs of a child in Hackleburg, Alabama, but that classroom teacher can know that need. Central standards mean teaching to the middle. The most gifted don't learn and do not create the inventions and entrepreneurial visions to fulfill the needs of the 21st century. Those less gifted will probably not live successfully and some will end up in prison because they were left behind.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Article I Section 8 of the United States Constitution instructs congress to promote the progress of science and useful arts. We have a history of government involvement in sciences that end up on the market place. The internet started out as a way to maintain communications in the event of a nuclear war. The dBase computer language was developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratories in Pasadena, California. Different companies went to work expanding its core but the courts stated its core was public domain because it was developed by public monies.
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
I do support gun violence legislation. The issue is not the guns, but the violence. We must respect the 2nd amendment but also take commonsense approaches to eliminate gun violence.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Unknown Position Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
BUT... I am not opposed to replacing the ACA with the adoption of a better system. We do not currently have a healthcare system. We have a sick-care system whereby we spend public dollars to make people healthy again rather than spending less dollars to ensure they don't get sick. The problem with preventative medicine is that it is not a profitable for private companies.
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
I do not support deporting a child that was brought to this country when he was six months old, lived here, worked here, went to school here, all their life and then send them back. This is what they know as home. This is not right. This person is a citizen and should be recognized as such.
Yes Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
Actions against another nation should not be unilateral but with global coalitions.
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
Due to the international market and economy, open trades may cause the US to eventually fall behind. Before being in a hurry to import, we should produce and consume the products we have first. Then, consider importation. Sacrificing our skilled labor and talent of the people in order for a few to profit is un-American. America must consider the interest of our people first before the interests of profits.
